It feels chilly and refreshing at the same time, the perfect weather for a new start.

It’s quiet this morning: the wind chimes are ringing; the wind is blowing in cool Canadian air. It was a quiet New Years Eve at Casa de’Devota’s. Just me and Saba curled up and watching the television last night. I didn’t feel like watching the fireworks on a cold, windy night, I didn’t feel like socializing with a few thousand other people at the First Night activities. It felt much more comfortable to be home, in the warmth with a good snack and a good companion.

It was the prefect way for me to end the year ’09. It wasn’t a good year for the memory books. It was fraught with lots of challenges, lots of upheaval and quite a few disappointments. There were a few bright spots, but they seemed to be hard to find in ’09. I am glad the page on the calendar has turned. It is my new year, my new decade to shine. I am up early, with a fresh attitude, a fresh perspective and wide open opportunities for the new year. I feel like I have the early morning advantage, getting ahead on my day. It will be a quick clean of the house and me, a short trip to the park and then on to a party later in the afternoon.

I have a couple of other things planned for the weekend, not quite ready to commit to, but check for updates as the days continue.
