Jacque, Valerie and The Capitol
12/13/2002
It was pouring when I left for work yesterday. I had to leave Saba in the house, it was just way to muddy for him to be out.
I arrived at my desk and waited for my 1st appointment. He was a no show. I decided because of the rain, most people will not be out looking for a place to live. I grabbed up my co-worker and headed to The State Capitol. Yes, it is THE capitol, it is taller than the one in Washington D.C. We get a lot more done here also. The Government meets every two years for about six months, that’s it, all the business is done in a timely manor, no full time staffs and wasted money. I have extra apartments and they need a place to stay. It took about two hours to paper the place with flyers.
I headed to the other office and dropped Kramer off, I was on the way home and Jeff Ward from KLBJ was talking about this guy that got pulled from a flight last year for additional search. I had to call in. I was traveling a bunch last October and November. Passengers kept disappearing from flights, you would see them check in at the counter, drop the luggage go thru screening and then never to be seen again. On one flight, this guy kept getting searched, he made the connecting flights but each change of planes he was searched again. Hum, I said to myself, something is up with this guy. When we landed in Austin, I was thankful to be home and headed down the jet way. As I turned the corner, I saw 5 uniformed officers waiting for someone. I knew two of these men, I made eye contact and there was no response from them. I figured they were busy, I hurried outside the airport, grabbing Al along the way and said, we are going to wait OUTSIDE until the bags arrive. It was a strange time flying last year. Never saw the guy again, he was taken away in handcuffs.
Jacque and Valerie called yesterday afternoon, they were back from the trek of the states. We arrange to meet for dinner. One requirement from Jacques, we had to go to a place he could smoke. Yes, he works for a tobacco company and no arguing with him. We headed to a favorite place of mine, off the beaten path that has great Italian food. I heard about there journey, Big Bend, Santa Fe, Memphis, the delta, New Orleans and back to Austin. It sounds like they had a successful trip. Jacques got to see the Gibson Factory. Valerie went out for lunch so he had plenty of time to play all the guitars in the showroom. The economy must be bad, Jacques did not buy a new toy on this trip. Hum.
I keep telling Jacque he need to get married to Valerie, I just love that girl. It has been three years, it is time. He keeps coming up with excuses. Men…
