I had a dinner date with the Professor.

He picked me up and we headed out for a little Italian place I know. Nice touch he had Frank Sanatra (?) on the stereo for the drive.
See he is on real thin ice right now. He is SO close to the Next phrase. See, he didn’t call for a couple of months, I haven’t seen him in about 3 months. I am convinced he has a wife and kids or a steady girlfriend. I have told him so because of the following reasons: I have never seen his place, he stopped calling around the holidays and he takes me out on strange nights of the week. We did have one date on a weekend a few months ago.
Ok so I was a little annoyed with him and I wanted some answers. I had grilled him on the phone last week when he called for the date. I got answers but not the ones I wanted. He has explanations but they just don’t add up in my book. I didn’t bring up my suspicions over dinner. We had a nice conversation and the evening did flow quite nicely. He has a trip out of town planned for today. On the way home he asked jokingly if I wanted to take him to the airport. He asked “do you think our relationship has advanced to that?“ I said sure, if you need to leave at 11:15 so I can do it on my way to another meeting and if you make sure your wife is not there. I don’t want some woman running out of the house saying “so you said it was a conference, I know now that you are whoring around.” He laughed and said next date, I could see his place. Hum, I don’t know what makes this man tick.
On a lighter note, I did get appointed to the Police Chiefs forum. The first meeting is Monday night. I am looking forward to this. I think it is a good way to start getting appointed to boards and commissions in town. I tried for the Mayors music commission a few years ago but got discouraged by a local musician and there was a 6th street bar owner that got appointed instead. He was probably a better fit for that commission.
