A quiet Saturday and Sunday
01/27/2003

It was cold and rainy most of the weekend.

I managed to score a really comfy chair for the bedroom. I was looking at the thrift stores, the discount stores then saw a sign on the side of the road. “emergency fire liquidation”. It seems that there was a fire in the back of the warehouse of this little furniture store. Lopez Furniture on the corner of South 1st and William Cannon.

There bad luck turned into my good luck. I found this rocker recliner with a foot stool about ½ price. I love the style, and it is PURPLE! Well, they called it plum but it is really dark purple. I tried it in various positions in the house, living room 3 different spots, bed room and finally decided it looked best in the bedroom. I will need a reading lamp that will go but this all takes time. I sat and read the APD financial statements cover to cover yesterday afternoon. I think I will be ready for tonight’s meeting.

Speaking about APD, as I was looking out the front window yesterday, I saw a swarm of police cars. Not the one or two that race in front of the house on occasion. I counted six at one point in a line down the street. It was strange, the dogs were not barking, I had not heard anything unusual. The officers started to turn and head the other way. I motioned to my neighbor across the street, did you hear or see anything? She had not either. Oh, shit they headed for the apartment parking lot. Sunday afternoon and it was raining. I didn’t want any trouble at the apartments. I grab my keys and coat and head down the street slowly. I didn’t want to get caught up in the middle of something. I saw another neighbor who I know has a police scanner. I ask Mr. T. what the heck is going on? They were chasing Six bad guys. They had stolen a bunch of stuff and had been seen and scattered. I heard through his scanner that they had caught all six. I waited until one of the officers turned and was heading back down the street. I stopped and asked him if all was well with the apartments. He just said yes, nothing for you to do they caught all the bad guys outside the apartments. I said good work, I am going back inside, it is to cold and rainy.

I talked to brother yesterday, he sounded tired and stressed out. I called dad yesterday before the game, all is normal in his world. I also talked to mom last night. Everything is Not well down in FL. The hearing for guardianship for Grandpa is Tuesday. The vultures have circled. The asset list is complete and the fighting has begun. I thought mom was having trouble composing the list, but found out last night, she was bullshitting me. She just didn’t want to disclose how much granddad has. I don’t really care, but it would help to know to prioritize the care he needs and can afford. As I said before, mom and her sister are not financially savvy and I can see this thing turning into a big mess. I wonder if the court will appoint someone else to be the guardian instead of the siblings?
