“I never promised you a rose garden.”
02/10/2003

Nope, you didn’t, so I built one my self. I spent the day digging and lugging and digging. I stopped at Home Depot after church and grabbed all the stuff I needed.

2 Sweet Olives, 6 Broom Plants and a really good pair of gloves. I spent my Christmas money and a little bit more. I moved most of the roses from around the yard to one spot. The roses are from Johnny, who owned the house before I did, he loved roses. I have them grouped around the seating area in the back yard. I had to move some of the roses before I could plant the new hedges. The ground was soft from all the rain the past month so it was easier to dig. I bought big plants this time, to hell with patience, I want results NOW. The bigger the plant, the bigger the hole to dig.

Six hours later, I have this great yard and seating area. I snuck out late last night to just sit under the stars and relax. The night was crisp and the moon and stars were shining. It was just pleasant to relax there. I think I have a new favorite spot to lounge. I still need to do some work there to make the garden a little neater, but the big move is done.

Next weekend I will get to the other fence line, the icky neighbor fence. They cut all the bamboo down and I really don’t want to look at them. I need to find something fast growing and thick. That will be a full weekend project.
