I am sitting at home during the middle of the day due to my stupidity, or rather a blond moment.

I was working at the office this morning and got a bit distracted. I had to head outside to check on a few things and didn’t lock the office door or bring my keys with me. My ever wonderful office assistant was in and I wasn’t to concerned. That is until I realized she had left for class, locked the office up with my keys, phone and purse in it! So I guess I have a little time to update what has been going on for the last few days.

I managed to do a whole lot of nothing on Sunday. I got up, talked to MOM and headed off to church. I stopped and grabbed a bite to eat and then headed home to watch NASCAR racing. Well, did you know it was a rainy day in Atlanta? The race got started then stopped by the weather. They did lots of driver interviews and then eventually some rebroadcasts of past races. I napped on the couch during most of this. I had planned on heading over to the office after the race and before my night out with the girls. Well, the race kept getting postponed and I never made it to the office. I needed a good down day anyway and it was the perfect overcast, rainy day here in Austin. Saba and I just hung out on the couch, dozed and watched television.

I had a great time with the woman in our little group. We all go to a yoga class at our health club, we tend to chit chat a bit amongst our selves and we decided to formalize it a bit. JA had us all meet at her house for a bit of wine and snack food. It was a pleasant gathering and I quite enjoyed the company sharing stories and just a bit of female bonding. The age range of the group is from there 30’s to there 50’s. A lot of combined experience.

I ended up at the Police Chief’s Forum on Monday evening after a long day at work. I arrive at the meeting location Monday night and see the television crews lined up along the street. Shoot, I didn’t comb my hair, hadn’t put lipstick on and here they were, the media. There is a bit of controversy in the police department right now and this was the first “public” meeting the chief had on his schedule. The meeting managed to stay on track, it was not a public forum, only members are allowed to speak. I got a few answers to my questions regarding the policy and procedures of an internal affairs investigation. I found out there are 2 investigations at one time, internal and officer involved. If the officer involved finds criminal activity or anything out of line the internal investigation stops and the criminal investigation continues. A little bit strange but the thought is that 2 groups should not be asking the same witnesses questions. I am not sure what is happening with this shooting. I can tell you I fee the officer is getting left to wolfs. I think the police chief did the right thing reinstating his pay until the internal investigation is over.

Tuesday Night I ended up with cops again. It was class time. We had a presentation by the narcotics unit and the K-9 unit. Both had exciting presentations. There are a lot more drugs on the street then I was aware of. That’s not my thing, but knowing what they are and what they do is good. Any knowledge is good, I don’t know if I will ever use it but interesting all the same. K-9 was a lot of fun. The officers brought along one of the work dogs. He was quite the ham. He seemed to be a little like Saba, an attention magnet. For an alpha dog, he liked his belly rubbed quite a bit. I found out that in Austin, the dogs do not wear vests. This is done for a number of reasons, mostly the heat factor. The vests are black and weigh quite a bit. The officers feel they would rather have a quicker dog then a heat exhausted dog.

Thursday I am getting ready for my trip to Phoenix, it is race weekend. I have to pack and get some laundry done. I have to stop at the pet food store for supplies for Sid and Saba. I am not heading into the office on Thursday, just to the airport.
