Rain in the desert- race delayed.
11/01/2003
We headed out to the track it was a little cloudy and overcast. We got there in time for Winston Cup Happy Hour. Some of the cars looked good in practice. I am not sure how they are going to do at the race tomorrow, with the rain and the clouds, the track is going to change a bunch. It is suppose to 70 and sunny for Sunday. The track will be cleaned from the rain.
Robby looked good during the last half of happy hour. He had an engine problem early in the practice. Sounded like a loose spark plug wire, not sure but that’s what I think. I managed to get a Robby Gordon hat today. Actually I got 2 of them, they were on sale so it was cheaper to buy 2 than 1. Today I wore a drivers hat for the fist time at the tracks. I felt a little odd, I am so used to not having logos because of the concert work, it seemed a little odd to me. Having my preference out there at the track. I am OK for it on the website but now on the track.
The Busch race started under green/yellow and they ran 4 laps then it was red flagged. Stopped for rain. Brother and I headed out to the car to wait for the rain to stop 2 hours and 24 minuets it started back up. Scott Riggs ended up placing 6th. That was enough to place him top in points. Bobby Hamilton Jr. won the race, Kevin Harvick the Winston Cup driver came in 2nd, then Brian Vickers, Joe Nemechek, then Ron Hornaday and Scott Wimmer ended up 7th. The race was exciting from the restart to the end, at lap 181.
Brother and I met up with a friend from AZ at the track. We came back to the hotel and grabbed a bite to eat. The boys headed over to the bar, I hopped in the shower, I got a little chilled sitting in the rain. I told the boys to have fun, but no bitching when the alarm goes off and it is time to go racing! I hope the weather forecast hold true and it a great day for racing!
