I found Robby, Testing underway and a new points system.
01/14/2004
Robby was slotted for the second round of testing at Daytona. It was based on owner points, odd and even dates. I saw a clip of him on the Speed channel last night, my heart be stilled. He is looking good. Jeff Gordon has a massive haircut.
Not sure it is a chick magnet cut. It is a buzz cut, there is no floppy hair left. The Speed correspondent said it best, “it is Aero”. I guess it will grow back by race day, 34 days away. RCR was looking good at practice yesterday. They were not in the top 10 in time but I am not sure that is what they were working on. I think the set ups was more critical than the times.
The softer tires were causing problems with the wheel wells on some of the cars. The softer tires also have softer side walls. Elliot Sadler was running a car with the new roof hatch. He is a big boy and I think that will be a great advantage to him if he needs to get out after a crash. Up and out instead of through the window. The starter boxes have moved to the “passenger side” dash. That should stop the rumors of traction control. The boxes are easy to see and can be checked by the officials during the pit stops.
The point’s playoff is now official. I am not sure if I like this new change. It is designed to award the race winners a bit more and have a “shoot out” at the end of the season. Not sure on the details yet but I am not happy about this change. It sounds like a marketing ploy to me. NASCAR says it’s their idea but I am wondering if Nextel has a bit to do with this. Hum, to be continued.
Me, I have been doing a bunch of chores around the house, stopped and watched some music Monday night after work and yoga on Tuesday night. I got a disturbing call from Step Mom last night, not good news on Dad. He is in the hospital, should know a bit more by late tonight, lots of tests today. Please keep him in your thoughts the next few days
