Monday I managed to get to the Web Entrepreneur’s panel
03/18/2004
The fun part about this one was that I know most of the presenters. That made it a good time, but I was read to ring Pud’s neck for one of his comments.
During the Q&A session, one of the attendees asked whey there weren’t any woman on the panel, the simple answer was Pud put it together and he just grabbed up his friends to come along. That would have been fine but, no the guy pressed and asked again why no women, Pud said, when he got started, there were no pretty girls on the web back in the early 90’s. I did gasp when he said that, and I felt the audience look in my direction. Ouch that hurt a bit. Oh well that’s probably why he usually doesn’t have a date!
Off to parties that evening after a stop at the house. I went to the Google/Blogger happy hour and had quite a nice time. There were lots of interesting folks to talk with. Some with interesting business ideas that I want to explore further and some that were just nice to meet. I did manage to snag a blogger t-shirt for myself and one for a friend of mine who was hosting his party at the same time. I thought he might like one for his collection. Once the Google party was winding down, I headed for his party on the other end of town.
He had a nice turnout, I got asked if I want to volunteer with his organization, but I need to figure out exactly what they do before I commit to anything. I also need to watch my time commitments; my schedule book is filing up quickly.
All in all 2 parties in one night with lot’s of fun and interesting folks. The SXSW week has just been rolling along.
