Is Robby Gordon 3rd or 5th? Nashville Busch Race.
04/11/2004
Robby was in 4th place and blew a tire, the caution flag fell due to debris and the team waited to pit with rest of the field. The restart, single file with less than 10 laps to go and then all hell broke loose.
Clint Bowyer and Kyle Busch were tapping each other then Johnny Benson got tangled up in a bump and spin. Robby got caught up in the mess with no where to go. Waltrip got through the wrecks and spins on the high side of the track and when the caution flag fell the controversy begins. Was Johnny Sauter in front of Michael when the field was frozen? Who passed over the line in what order? When did the yellow get thrown?
The unofficial results are different on the websites I watch: NASCAR.com has it as Waltrip, Sauter, Gordon, Bowyer, Busch. That’s Racing has it as Waltrip, Sauter, Kahne, Bowyer, Gordon then Busch and Benson. FoxSports.com has Robby listed as 5th. I guess we just have to wait until the results are official to figure out if he was 3rd or 5th. Robby’s site isn’t updated from this weekend so I guess with the holiday, we will have to wait until Monday.
The Fruit of the Loom guys did a great job today. They were in the top 10 all race long. I didn’t get to hear any of the broadcasts on TV. I went to my local sports bar to watch the race and because of the baseball game and the golf tournament, they kept the sound off for the race. I could only watch the ticker at the top of the screen for lap times and speeds.
I had thought a bit about driving out to Nashville to watch the race. I checked travel times and flights but it is a 12 hour drive and the flights were booked with the Holiday travel. Just thought it would be fun, a bit impulsive and decided it was too far to go for just one race. Brother was talking about attending another race this season, I am not sure if we will head out to Phoenix or another track for the second race. I want to go to another track, I would like to see the Busch and Cup series the same weekend but we need a track where it will be easy to fly into and out of.
I worked quite a bit on the yard yesterday before the rain, got some plants in and some bamboo screening up along the fence. It makes the back yard a bit more private, allows me to use my bedroom window but it was a lot of work but I love the results.
Plans for today: Happy Easter, church this morning, dinner late this afternoon.
