It turned out to be a 5th place finish when the results became official yesterday.

That leaves Robby Gordon 5th in points, 71 points behind the leader in the Busch series. I am a bit disappointed; I was hoping to keep the 3rd place finish.
I have been following lots of rumors about Robby and RCR racing making a change. It originates out of Johnny Sauter being released from the # 30 AOL team. It, the rumor, has Jeff Burton moving into Robby’s spot in the # 31 Cingular car at the end of May. Sponsorship and driver contracts all hinge on the rumor. I was trying to find contract information yesterday on Robby, it remember an announcement a while back, but the closest I could find was a contract signed for the 2002/03 season. That press release didn’t have the length listed. Hum, could this explain what I have been noticing lately with spotter situation? Is this why Robby is funding his own car? Just speculation about rumors here, nothing concrete to hang my hat on. Fox news said it is all speculation; Richard Childress is on vacation this week, so the changes are unlikely.
I was trying yesterday to figure out what track to go to for the second race of the season. I looked at a bunch of options and I think it will be Phoenix again this year. The date and the ticket availability are the major factors. I have some other races I am attending at TMS, I want to be able to fly in and out with out a lot of hassle. I don’t want to travel on a holiday weekend and I would like to see a Busch race and a Cup race. That limits me to a few dates and a few tracks. I will be calling Brother to see if he wants to go with me. The race is the first weekend in November, we know the area and it would give me some time to save up for the trip.
