Trucks tonight and Robby starts 13th for the cup race.
06/12/2004

I spent most of the day out at Texas Motor Speedway, it was , ROMCO practice, IRL practice and the truck race this evening.

I managed to see Dennis Setzer win over Ted Musgrave for a quick 400 mile race. There were only a few cautions during the race and the new little scanner/receiver worked great! I was able to listen in on the drivers, the trace officials and the TV and Radio broadcast folks. It held up and it is SO easy to carry at the track. Ted had won the pole yesterday and was not able to keep the truck out front the last few laps of the race. The final order was due to pit strategy: 2 tires or 4, Ted opted for only 2 right sides only. The tire wear fell of on the last 5 laps of the race. It was heartbreaking to watch as he ended up 11 seconds behind Dennis for the checkered flag after leading most of the race.

I did manage to meet up with a few folks at the track. Skip let me know he has a new baby due in August; he even had an ultrasound picture. He and his wife are so excited, she did skip the race due to the heat and humidity. B. and I met up and watched the practice from the shade. It was a hot sunny day in Fort Worth. The guy that works the section for the track was teasing me in the afternoon about my seat choice. I just told him I was a bit dyslexic, instead of row 27 I thought it said row 72.

I am getting a bit of Cup and Bush news before I pack it in for the night. Robby managed to qualify 13th for the cup race at Pocono and Brandon Miller qualified the # 55 in 21st for Nashville. It doesn’t really matter about the placement of the Nashville car, Robby will have to start from the back due to the driver change Saturday Night. I will not be able to watch the race, I will be at the IRL race in Texas. The IRL and Cup both have the same start times, 7:00 central. I think I will be back in Austin to watch the Cup race on Sunday at Noon I will just head back to town early.
