I have been so busy working on the barn, now its time to focus on Racing.
What is up with the sponsorship issue? Nextel is trying to bully the competition. I wonder if this is an antitrust issue. You know how the government broke up the telephone monopolies perhaps it’s time to look a auto racing. I wonder if there are lawyer/race fans that would look into it. I am sure Motorola has a gaggle of lawyers that are on staff. Cingular is now AT&T so I wonder if they are willing to join in this sponsorship battle for the 31 car. Nextel is just being a bully. Perhaps the legal eagles can work this out.
It is hard enough to find sponsorship money, to find a company willing to take the plunge into racing. I am surprised that there is such a fuss about Motorola. They have been involved in cup racing for years. They are the radio of choice for most of the teams. They are the big dog in the communications business. They make great products.
I can only imagine what Robby is feeling. He must be so frustrated. Harrah’s is pulling out due to a buy out, which was a number of races that will need a primary sponsor. Robby is doing so well this season. The engine packages are working out. He has been placing well in the races, holding onto a 14th place in the standings.
I am confident this will be a good year for Robby and team Gordon. The only thing I am worried about is that Robby will be driving angry. Robby is an aggressive driver as it is and if he is pissed off, watch out. I think he will be heading to the front today rather quickly.
I spoke to Brother the other night: I don’t like him very much right now. The ugly green jealousy monster has hopped on my shoulder. He is going to Bristol, Martinsville and then Texas. Three race weekends in a rows, he is going to be exhausted. I wish I was going with him.
