It’s a Great Day,
03/25/2007

I woke up in my new house this morning.

I spent Saturday moving and painting the old house. I reserved Derrick, one of the day labor men and the other person I requested wasn’t available. We took along with us, Jamaican George. I took us the morning to get the big stuff moved, along with a lot of the little stuff. I have boxes and bags of stuff everywhere.

Once we got me moved, the men started on the painting. We managed to knock off the two bedrooms and the living room by the time 4:30 rolled around. It was a full day’s work for all of us. George headed over to see his daughter around the corner and then I drove Derrick back to catch his bus. He said he doesn’t mind working for me, other folks are real jerks. I suppose you never know with day labor. I got Derricks’ pager number for when I start working on the landscaping. He is such a nice man, I wish he could find something a little more permanent and get a leg up.

I came back to the new house, stopped and had some supper and then started unpacking boxes and bag. It is going to take a while to sort all my junk out. I have way too much of it. I still have to paint the kitchen today after I pack up some of my collectables from the top of the cabinets. I was afraid to have anyone else do that, I will be mad if they get damaged, so it is better I do it. I have some cleaning to do and then it’s time to find the camera. I want to get the ad posted for rental as soon as I can.

I am going to cherish this morning for a long time: first shower, first morning, and first cup of coffee on the porch. It has been a long term dream, it’s finally here. I am so happy!

Brothers at Bristol for the race, I may move the little TV back over to the old house, if I haven't finished painting yet to watch the race.
