Sid is in the hospital, I am feeling guilty.

Yesterday morning, I got Saba with the topical flea treatment and some got onto Sid.
Saba was struggling with me as I put the stuff on him. Sid was looking for food, it was breakfast time anyway and he was under my feet. I figured it was no big deal, it was flea stuff. He’s a cat, it probably didn’t matter. I wiped up what I could and headed to work not giving it another thought.
After a difficult day at the office I got home and Sid was not himself. I figured the elusive cat must have eaten something bad. I was watching him and dragged him up onto the bed with me and he was trembling a bit. He appeared scared or something. I decided to get cleaned up before I packed it in for the night. When I got back to the bedroom, Sid was in a full seizure.
It was awful to see. I can’t describe how my heart sank, my panic set in and I wrapped him up in a towel and headed over to the 24 hour vet. I walked in and told them my cat had just had a huge seizure. They took him in the back and then came out and told me it was probably the flea stuff from the dog. He would be OK but that it would require a lot of treatment. He is on an IV, and lots of drugs I can’t pronounce. They kept him overnight and I just checked on him this morning.
He is doing fine, no more seizures last night. The vet’s want to keep an eye on him today and I will get him when I get out of work tonight. They shaved his back, washed him down and he is resting comfortably right now.
I am glad I had a little bit extra in the bank account, but after one swipe of the card, I am down to $20.00 in the account. Good thing this is payday week and I have a rent check coming in shortly.
I have been traumatized by this whole event. I feel like a fool. I had no idea that the flea treatment for dogs was so poisonous to cats.
