A slap at the end of the IRL race!?

After the checkered flag fell the tempers flared.
I was watching an uneventful race on Sunday, it was a road course race. It was all caught on camera. A drivers parents getting into an altercation about an on track incident. Some words from Sam’s dad to Tony Kanaan then a push, a shove and Sam Hornish’s father pushed to the ground made for some bad press. A member or the Andretti Green racing crew was the one responsible for the shove. They all looked like a bunch of school children in a playground spat.
I was disappointed in Helio Castroneves wrecking his ride coming onto the front stretch. I love the quote from him: “Mental mistake,” he said. “I was trying to hold my line and keep it clean out there. I think I just overthought things and ended up spinning. I knew Dixon was fast into Turn 1, so I was pushing to get up there in front of him and I spun." I have to ask, were you thinking about women and day dreaming when you were driving your race car? Helio was looking good during the pre race introductions and had a gorgeous woman at his side. A bit distracted?
I had settled into a quiet Sunday after the lawn chores on Saturday. I was winding my day down after having pancakes for dinner. I had just finished chatting on the telephone and was getting ready for bed. That darn pager started bleeping. It was a long nigh: 9:15 to 3:15 for the latest investigation. I had put on one of the new outfits I had bought, it was hanging on the door for Monday morning wearing and headed into the office. I managed to make it home and have a quick nap before heading back into the office for my normal shift Monday Morning.
I was dragging a bit around 3:00 and I was heading for a break. Some of the other unit we work with often was heading to the elevators. They asked me where I was going. I said I was heading to the top floor to hide and have a smoke. I didn’t want to land on the first floor, there were too many admin’s and officers that would be asking questions on the first floor. They told me that was a good plan. Yes, sometimes I avoid being asked what is going on.
I was leaving the building at the end of my day and stopped to chit chat on the way out. I was talking with the retired cop at the front counter and there was this good looking blond cop at a computer terminal. I found myself saying, gee I have to go now. They were discussing the latest event and I know a bit too much information. I smiled and headed out the door exclaiming I really need to leave now. I made the corner and was asked by the good looking officer where I was going. I replied “I have a hot date with my pillow”. He just laughed at me but it was a nice flirtatious moment. I know what he wants to know, I can’t tell and I needed to get out of there.
I headed home, made some pasta and called it an early night. When I woke up this morning, there was a general page, there was another murder last night, PIO was doing a press conference in the middle of the night. I wonder when we are going to get a break? It has been case after case the last 6 weeks. Not today, I know I am tired, I am sure my detectives are exhausted by now.
