A $35,000 fine and on probation until the end of the season.

Robby, we need a bit of clarification here: the press release read:

“The fine and probation also carried the stipulation that if, during the remaining NASCAR events in 2007, there is another action by Gordon that is deemed by NASCAR officials as detrimental to stock car racing or to NASCAR, or is disruptive to the orderly conduct of an event, he will be suspended indefinitely from NASCAR.”

So, let’s see, if you have a car doesn’t pass inspection, that’s section 12-4-A, actions detrimental to Nascar. If you swear on camera, that's 12-4-A. If you get into a scuffle, that’s 12-4-A. It would appear that anything out of bounds you do might be construed as 12-4-A. Did they elaborate at all with you in private?

Robby, I think you might need to talk to Tony Stewart and see how it worked with his handler after his “anger management issues”. He had a constant companion with him to run interference with the press and officials. He might have some tips. I would happily apply for the position, I have a bit of experience, just drop me a note (email link is on the right). I would clear my schedule to help you out.

It’s going to be a long rest of the season for Robby. It’s going to be a lot of pressure in and especially out of the car for him. It’s hard enough to be an owner/driver but to have the added cloud of an indefinite suspension hanging over you is going to be a challenge. I would suggest a couple things to work as distractions.

The first one would be to get a puppy: that would keep you busy at the track, keep you focused on something else. A few chewed booties, some non car responsibilities, feeding, crying and walking him, which would be good. Can you see Nascar being mean to anyone that has a puppy in his arms at the drivers meeting? We could name him 12-4-A, or disruptive or suspension, something catchy like that!

There are a few other things I would suggest…. Never mind, I will keep it clean, this is a work friendly site.
