Local short track asphalt racing.

Thunder Hill Raceway, Kyle TX.
I headed on down to the local track last night for the Operation Interdependence races. I had it on my calendar that KMAC Sports (www.Kmacsports.com) was broadcasting the race and that it was going over to the troops via satellite. I guess there was some confusion around: the race was being sent, the feed was from the announcer’s booth not the KMAC booth. I was a bit disappointed. I still helped spot the TSRS race for the internet, and then headed down to the stands to watch the rest of the racing action. I understand the footage will be put on DVD’s and sent over to the troops.
Kyle Sirizzotti managed to lap most of the field in his race; there were a number of wrecks, red flags and the field dropped to 6 after a start of 12. I don’t think I have seen that before, he was a full ½ to ¾ of a track ahead of the second place car. On a short 3/8 of a mile track, that’s pretty impressive.
I heard that on of the TSRS drivers Cody Smith got picked up for a driver development program by 5K Motor Sports and was doing well in is first race with them. He is a nice young man, good racer and I hope he can continue his climb towards the “big leagues”.
It was a good night for me, I was a little disappointed that the feed was not what I thought it would be, but that’s ok, it was done, it should make some folks happy and I tried to do my part to help out.
Today is a work around the house day, a bit of Nascar from New Hampshire this afternoon. I need to get the grass cut, its not that long, but I don’t think it can wait until next weekend. Grass is like laundry, the never ending chore.
