A few days off- sort of.
10/01/2007

I managed to get through a lot of my list on Friday, but the pager was making noise as I went down to the track Friday night.

I called into the office to see what this cryptic page was trying to tell me. I was told don’t worry about it. It went off again during the race; again I wasn’t going to worry about it, I was at the racetrack and it would have to wait. I had a nice time on Friday night, there weren’t a lot of fans there, but it was good racing, qualifying and some dash for cash money to be had.

I managed to get a few more things done from my list on Saturday and again headed down to the track for some evening races. There was a lot more folks in the stands, lots of racing to be had and a few friends to be seen. I was enjoying the racing, the night was wearing on and the last race ended quite late. I headed back to the house, up the highway just wondering to myself what my life might seem like to other people. I love racing, I love watching cars go around the track. I love the competition, the rivalries, the power of the cars, the talent of the drivers and the whole experience of being at the racetrack.

The telephone rang early in the morning. I wish I could say it was someone that wanted to whisper sweet nothings in my ear, but no, it was work. It was time to get up and head into the office and deal with the bad guys. I am not complaining I like the overtime; it makes my paychecks very nice. I worked from about 4:30 to 10:30 and then headed out to find some breakfast, call mom and watch the Nascar race.

I put the tape in as I lounged on the couch: I had a feeling I would be napping a bit and I was right. The rain delayed wreck fest ended up on ESPN so I got my race results this morning, Robby got a top 20 finish, his car wasn’t doing well when the rain came out, but with the mess of sheet metal left behind at end, it didn’t hurt him in points. The Chase drivers are all mixed up. I guess I will have to wait for the race recap next Sunday to see all the action.

I talked to Dad yesterday; all is not well in his world. I wish there was something I could do to magically to straighten out his worries. It hurts me when he is upset like this, I just feel helpless.
