Some shopping, a bit of exotic food, some music and a race.

It was a good weekend.
I managed to go on a marathon shopping adventure on Saturday morning, a bunch of new work cloths, a fall wardrobe that will be acceptable to the powers that be. I headed out Saturday evening for a street fair. I was looking for a bit of Greek food: baklava in particular. Yummy! My mission was successful, I even brought a couple of pieces home.
I headed out next to a TX roadhouse to go hear a band. I headed West out of town, along a stretch of highway I hadn’t been on in a while. It had changed a lot, there was this huge shopping center I had heard about, lots of new shops and subdivisions popping up along the way.
I arrived at the bar, headed in the door, wondering to my self why I had made the drive. There were no street lights, I missed the turnoff the fist time and had to turn around. As soon as I got in the door, my night got even better. The man I went to hear play came over and said he was surprised to see me. He wasn’t sure I was going to make it out. He had put me on the guest list: had a place for me waiting and then he was on stage to play. I enjoyed the sets: I got up and danced a bit, had a couple of laughs. It turns out I know the owner of the place, I saw a good friend that wondered in and was quite content as I left the show.
Sunday was a very lazy morning, waiting for the telephone to ring; I wanted to make sure I got to talk with Dad this week. We had a few pressing matters to discuss. We got those worked out and then it was gossip and advises time.
Racing was next: Robby got caught up in a wreck towards the end of the race. It was a bit disappointing, but Jeff managed a last lap pass to clinch the win. I headed out to grab some food with T, stop at the grocery store and then head back to the house for a quiet evening talking on the telephone, watching a bit of TV.
All in all it was a great weekend: something I needed.
