A short trip to the outlet mall.
12/03/2007
It was too hot yesterday to take Saba Christmas shopping.
I like little road trips: they give me some peace and quite time and allow me to do a bit of thinking. Yesterday I was jumping from men, to work, back to men, to finances to men and back to my little life. I have been single for quite a long time. I don’t get the opportunity to date much. Cops are on the do not date list, my outside contacts at work are somehow involved in murders or deaths. Generally they are not high on the dating pool list. Sometimes they are lawyers, also on the do not date list. That limits me a bit on the work possibilities. I live in Austin, musicians are on the do not date list. I need to figure out where to meet some eligible single men.
Work is just a stressful place lately. There have been lots of changes in the past month. I have two new bosses to get used to. Some procedural changes, some reporting changes and of course others are trying to impress the new boss. I am sitting back and watching this unfold. My finances are doing well thanks to Mom: I got rid of the outrageously high credit card rate and am paying the bank of Mom. I ran into a problem with the final push to get into the new house. Over budget and late as all construction projects go. I am happy where I am in my little life. I live in a great part of Austin; I have a neat new house that used to be a barn. I like my job, like most of the people I work with so I don’t really have anything to complain about.
I headed out of the house in a pair of jeans and a short sleeved shirt. It was a beautiful day, 80 degrees and sunny. I had the AC on when I was heading to the outlet mall. Two things about this trip were strange: Saba not coming along for the ride and K. not being available to lug the packages. K. recently moved, has a new woman and is no longer available as boyfriend light.
I headed to one of my favorite places to shop and found they were going to be closing by the end of December! The good news was everything was 60% off. The bad news is I don’t know where I am going to get such nice linens from now on. I stocked up and got some extra towels but couldn’t find sheets or a duvet cover. They had a micro fiber one, but I figured that would take a lot of abuse with the dog hair: cotton works much better around this household.
I headed off next to my other favorite store and managed to get myself a few pretties, and got Brother off the shopping list.
