TSRS, Grand Stocks, Super Stocks and Thunder Stocks.

It was a blistering night: tempers flared, cars wrecked and someone had a “chat” with the officials after the race.
I headed down to the track a bit late, by 6:30 and it was still 100 degrees. I headed to the broadcast booth, it was packed with folks and I wasn’t needed for the night so I got to play. I headed down to the stands and found a spot on the front stretch, surrounded by kids and their parents. It was a lot of fun.
The Texas Pro Sedans had a red flag shortly after the green flag fell, one of the engines let loose with oil all the way around the track. It took all the officials and some extras time to clean it up. When they got back to racing, I took my glasses off, there was oil dry flying everywhere. It was a bit dusty for then next few laps. Once the Grand Stocks got on the track, my glasses were back on and the race track was cleared. It was a great race and the Armendia clan cleaned up with the checkers: Homer Pitner, Carolyn Armaendia and James Aramendia took the checkers in that order.
The Texas Super Racing Series (TSRS) fielded 20 cars for a 75 lap race. I don’t know what happened to Brian Moczygemba, the #2 in points, he kept getting sent to the back of the field. I disagreed with a couple of calls by the officials, but since I was in the stands, my opinion didn’t count. Robert Barker took the field to the first green flag and Chris Schild spun out. That put the order as Heath Stewart, Chris Schild and Robert Barker to lead the field to the next green flag. The third caution sent Moczygemba to the back for the fist time, and then to the pits for caution 4. He got caught up in with the 01 car of Allen Alexander. Then something happened during the 6th caution: the 28 of Leland Waddell and the 43 car had a little “discussion” on the track. The 43 was torn up already from one of the first wrecks of the night. I knew they were racing hard, but I am not sure of all that transpired. By the 6th caution, there were only 16 cars left on the track. The final checkers brought the finish to the 01 of Allen Alexander, the 05 of Cody Smith, 07 of Chris Schild then the number of 14 Jake Kruger and the number 2 of Bobby Teer Jr across the finish line. That should shake up the point standings just a bit.
Next up were the Thunder Stocks with 12 cars for the start of a 30 lap race. Kevin Brown, Gary Chancellor, Steve Joyce and Jeff Smith came across the finish line respectively. The Super Stocks had a 40 lap feature with 18 cars on the track. 4 cautions later the finish was Keith Garrett, Carry Stapp, Bobby LaFont and Chris Birmingham and Duane Toyne.
It was a fun nigh of racing: a bit of heat, a few tempers flaring but a whole lot of fun! Next week is an off week for my local track, but the TSRS cars will be up at the Red River Speedway. I wonder if it’s time for a road trip? I wonder if I could tag along or split the trip with someone.
