Do grown ups carry backpacks?
08/03/2008
I do.
I headed off to the hair dressers in the morning, I got a fabulous cut and then stopped at one of my local haunts for some cloths, no cloths but I did find something else.
I was thinking as I left for the hair dressers in the morning, I should “grow up” and start using a purse again. I don’t know where that thought came from, I am not sure what message I convey with my back packs, but I have been using them for years. I started when I was staying in NYC and riding the subway a lot. It was easier to keep track of, easier then lugging a purse. I used to walk, subway and bike a whole lot in the city. I switched everything over to a purse I have before I left the house. It was cumbersome and felt bulky on one shoulder. I struggled to find what I was looking for as I drove. I figured I would make the switch, try it for a week, but when I got to the store things changed. There was this pack, a little black and white number that just jumped off the rack and said take me home.
I got back to the house after a couple of side trips: one to work and one to the beauty supply store and a stop for lunch. I took everything out of the purse and threw it into the new back pack. I guess I am not ready to “grow up” just yet. I will still be that person with the pack slung over their shoulders on the daily walk to work.
Saturday was a day to relax, rejuvenate and recharge. It was a quiet night, a bit of television, some web surfing and then a book to end the evening. Saba and I will probably hit the park later tonight, after the Nascar race and the temperature drops back to a reasonable level.
