Lots of new stuff this week.

A new roommate & re-arranging.

I had a heck of a week at work: I wasn’t the only one having problems with one of my co-workers, apparently some other folks have made complaints. Hum…. I renewed my gym membership for another year, I think it’s good for me and keeps me on an even keel. I managed to get to yoga 3 times and was trying to make it this morning but I got distracted.

I am getting a new roommate, her name is Y she is a UT student and will be living with me for a few months. It was a quick decision, a quick change in plans for me and her. I was thinking I needed a distraction and I saw a post on the neighborhood news group. Her living situation got changed quickly and she wants to be close to school. I met her and her current roommate yesterday; they came by to look, filled out the background stuff and dropped a check off later in the morning. Saba liked her a lot, and that counts a lot in my world. Her roommate spoke highly of her but she in doing a major change and Y can’t go with her. Y came back later in the afternoon to help me clean and move some of the stuff out of “her room”. Since it will be an extended stay, I moved my office out into the living room. I really missed my desk when I had the last guest for a month. We are going to get up in the attic this afternoon, move a few more things out of her way.

I am excited; I think it will be good for both of us. Her English should improve, my Spanish might get better and it will be nice to have some company. She is not sure of her schedule yet, but school start is a couple of weeks. I will be taking the money from the rent and putting it aside for my newer car fund. It’s getting time to think about that, mine has 100K miles on it now. It runs fine, but it’s at that point. Repairs could get large and I don’t’ want to get caught up in a bind when it’s time to make the decision to change cars.

I was thinking about heading to Houston for the TSRS races on Saturday night but got an email that the race was cancelled due to rain. I got a tiny little bit for the rain at the house Saturday night, but not enough to make a difference.

I bought some bookshelves Friday; they were on sale of course. I managed to get them put together and with the move it was great timing. I took the collection of stuff from the office and moved them all into the living room on the new shelves. It looks good, hopefully will keep me a bit more organized. I did end up shredding a bunch of papers last night. I was watching television and digging through piles of paper. With my desk in plain sight, I will have to be a bit more organized. Another plus, my desk is right next to the fish tank. It has a nice calming water sound in the background.

I am going to head out and scrounge some breakfast and then comeback and watch the race and move a few more things.
