A Saturday drive.
11/16/2008
Saba and I headed out for an adventure on Saturday, we went to Spring TX.
It was for a baby shower. I know I wouldn’t give you all those details, but we sure had a nice drive. We headed out of town a bit after 9:30 and hit the highways. Route 290 heads from Austin into the Houston area. It is a beautiful drive, nice open highway and lots of fields, cows and green space. You go through some small towns on the way; yes there are even stop lights on the highway. The hills genteelly roll along as you head down to the coast.
We took a left off the highway to Tomball TX, there are a couple of local racers from there and it was neat to drive through their downtown. Lots of little shops an old fashioned downtown. We kept going and got to Spring TX, where the event was held.
A bit of miscommunication on my part, Saba had to stay in the car. I thought it would be Ok for him to be out in the back yard with the kids, but some of the parents didn’t agree. I grabbed him up and we went for a quick walk around the subdivision after the presents were opened.
Once the festivities were done, Saba and I headed back to Austin. We stopped and got some treats for the evening: Elgin Sausage just happens to be on the way home. I was going to get dinner there, but since it was getting dark and I didn’t feel like eating alone, I grabbed a plate to go. It made the car smell so good on the last leg of the trip. I pulled into the drive, unloaded our stuff and Saba and I got to delve into a plate piled high with food. Yup, it was a good as I recalled. The servings are so large; we will be feasting on it again when we watch the final race of the season this afternoon.
