Just what the internet is for.
11/24/2008

I found a small group of people that have IT too.

I remember years ago a speaker at a Tech Seminar saying groups of people will find each other on the internet. He was talking about a different type of group, but that’s a whole other story. I did come across a support group site for people with IT on Sunday. I was shocked to read some of the postings about how long they are waiting for treatment. The 1st appointment for a specialist takes months for a referral. Those people are from England and Canada where there is national health care. I am so glad I live in the states and have good health insurance. I was able to track down the super sub specialist rather quickly and got in to see him.

It was a bit discouraging to hear about the length of time it takes for IT to end. I also found out that IT can reoccur. Some folks only face it once, but others have permanent damage and IT rears its ugly presence quite often. There was advice about making sure I keep doing as much as I can, they say it helps retrain the brain, staying at home will just slow the recovery. (I guess its time to go back to yoga and just tip over.) The site helped me see that there is therapy in my future, specially designed for my particular IT situation. There were some warnings about medications to avoid, medications that worked and lots of other tips.

I feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one facing IT. It was comforting to read the other stories about people dealing with IT.
