and homeless. It's just not right.
I helped with a party for the emergency shelter for children.
The good news was there were very few children there. The bad news, some of the kids had to leave early. I made a trip to the facility to bring the party and the gifts to them.
I got to meet one other young man; he is 7 and is a very bright kid. He knows his math, his science and was just a lot of fun to be around. We were both a little upset when there was an emergency with one of the other kids. We waited outside in the back yard until the ambulance arrived and the child was taken care of. We were playing catch with the football, trying to enjoy the day, but it was a disappointment. I am sure he has had his share of disappointments, but it was supposed to be a special day.
I need to get back on track for more volunteer work with the shelter. I want to look into becoming a foster parent. I think I could make a huge difference. I think I am ready to take the next step.
I headed home and then out to see some old friends at another party. It was a lot of fun getting caught up. There was lots of laughter. I need to plan some sort of get together in the spring. I haven’t had a good party since I moved into the barn. I think a spring cookout is fixing to be in the works.
