Ushering in the New Year.

The Wish Tree.
Saba and I headed to the dog park for a romp in the morning: we met up with an old friend that was in town for a visit. It was nice to get caught up, get both our dogs run down and afterwards I headed to a new years day party. I saw neighbors, friends and other politically active folks.
There is a wishing tree at the party. Each year you write a note with your wish on it. I found a few of mine and they have mostly come true. One year I wished I could get moved into the barn, I am here now. One year I wished for a little bit more: a bit more money, a bit less stress, and a little bit more love. I found one wish my mom wrote in 2001, she was wishing for a good retirement, enough money to travel and live well. I gave here a call on the phone and read her wish back to her. It had come true for her. She is having a good retirement.
I put my wish on the tree for 2009. This year I am wising for big things: big money, big love and big changes. I hope they come true and next year I will be looking at the tree and smiling confirming my wishes came true.
