No Yams for breakfast, yet.
02/14/2009

Diet, baby, medical stuff and work.

I headed to the regular doctors office Monday and met with a new PA: with flu season going strong, no chance of seeing a physician. I had to explain a lot to her about IT, cause, effect, drugs and symptoms. I got a few more tests done. She did hurt my feelings a bit when she made a comment, sometimes people just don’t think before they speak. The good news is it doesn’t look like I need yams for breakfast just yet. The specialist is looking at an “elimination” diet that looks just horrid. I hope this mess can be figured out without having to resort to that! I was waiting anxiously for the results and finally got them on Thursday afternoon. They were better, not terrific, so I am heading in the right direction again. I am going to skip the diet for now: I don’t need the additional stress right now.

Dad called on Wednesday evening: He is having a medical hiccup right now. There will be more testing for him on Tuesday. He sounded quite frustrated on Thursday afternoon when I called him about my good news. I hope it’s just simple for him: we should know more next week.

Ms. McK had her baby on Thursday morning. Her mom called me to watch her critters as she headed down for the delivery. Baby is doing well and mom is OK, but they will be in the hospital for a couple of days.

Thursday night I was just getting settled for the evening when I got a call from the office: There was a shooting. I headed in for 3.5 hours. It was task forces shooting so there were lots of agencies’s that were involved. The bad guy got shot, he will live, but a couple of cops got injured in the mêlée. My unit will not be the lead, but there sure were a lot of people to interview. I stepped on a couple of toes; there are different rules for different units, there are different protocols for different agencies and that had to be sorted out. I did get to see a few people I know, don’t like to see them only when there is a big event, but it was nice to see them anyway. The shooting sure created a lot of work on Friday for my unit even though we are not the lead.

I am going to be off for the Presidents Day holiday from work. It will be nice to have an extra day this weekend. There is an awful lot of stress going on right now. There is going to be realignment in the department and the administrative staff will be shuffled around along with it. I don’t know how it will affect me or my job; there is a committee that will be looking at it. The changes will take place at the end of the month.
