Lucinda Williams show last night.
02/21/2009

Great music, great show.

The last time I saw Lucinda was with TR from Toronto: I was looking forward to the show and wanted to hear some of her new songs live. It has been way to long since I had been to a show. I missed a couple of Lucinda’s shows for various reasons. TR was going to head down for one of the tours, but plans changed last minuet and she didn’t make the trip and I couldn’t get tickets by then.

I headed downtown to meet B. I was feeling a bit anxious about heading into a big crowd with IT, but it went quite well. She played at La Zona Rosa, a smaller venue than I have seen her in the past. I had my earplugs in and the music sounded great, it’s a hard room for the sound guys. We were standing in the back of the room near the sound board so I was not packed into the crowd. I managed to only step on a few toes on the way to the bar to get some water.

She did some acoustic songs along with hard rocking songs. It was a nice mix and I sure enjoyed myself. I forget on occasion she lived her for a bit and has connections with other musicians from here. It was nice to hear from her about where the ideas for some of the songs came from.

It sure was a treat to get out to a show: it was a treat to see Lucinda and her band. I wish TR could have been here, but she will be in later next month for SXSW and we will be adventuring out for lots of different shows and seeing lots of bands. Thanks Lucinda for getting me out to a show: it been way to long and now I feel a lot better about SXSW coming up. I will have to pace myself a bit more this year, but I can manage live music and IT.
