Texas Super Racing Series
03/16/2009

The local touring series was on track for their opening night of racing.

It was a full field with a few rookies joining in this year: Jeff O’Neill, Kendall Bumbera and Levi Krauss joining the list of racers. As I said I think the drivers wanted to stay warm with the added caution laps to the scheduled 50 lap race. The racing surface was cold, but after a couple of laps the tires got warm and the racing was on. Heath Stewart and Jake Kruger got tangled up on lap 44 sending Stewart spinning. The official decision was to send Kruger to the back and let Stewart resume his second place spot for the last segment of the race.

It was Robert Barker and Heath Stewart running hard for the checked flag. Robert Barker took the win, followed by Hath Stewart, Bobby Teer Jr, Chris Schild and Cary Stapp. Jeff O’Neill was the high placing rookie at 6th.

It was nice to see the local racers on track with the touring series. It sure made for an exciting start to the local race scene. The stands were packed with fans and there were a whole lot of new faces at the track. It was a great showing and a fun night of racing.
