SXSW Music 09 day 2
03/20/2009
I started with coffee and ended with a cab ride.
I started downtown meeting up with a JB for coffee and a chat, then heading over to the New West Records Stage; I didn’t have a pass and the band I was there to see was on stage already. I could hear them, see them from a distance, but couldn’t get up close, sometimes that happens. I then wondered around for a bit and hit a couple other parties; I went to the Entertainment Weekly party and then headed home for a nap. I went back downtown and managed to see a “hot new band from Nashville” that wasn’t all that: I left after two songs.
I wondered over an managed to catch a set by Obits with Rick Froberg that was a jamming set. I headed next to watch Sleeper Car and Blind Pilot. Next up was King Khan and the Shriens for a jam packed, jumping set. Then on over to see a band I can’t find the name of and then over to the Smokin’ Music party to see Jonathan Tyler, The deep Vibration and Wax Fang.
T was crashing by then so we spent a bit of time trying to hail a cab but managed with a bit of a delay then headed home for the night and I am getting ready to head out this afternoon for a bit more music and fun.
