Grounded on Friday Night
03/22/2009
I guess I pushed myself a little bit too hard, but I sure had fun doing it!
I got up early on Friday morning, headed out for the day parties and lasted until about 5:30. I managed to see Bishop Allen, The Handsome Furs, a band called Ambrose: an attractive rock group that had the CA surfer boy looks. I picked up a CD by the Dirty Heads, I liked there sound as I walked by the stage and chatted with their manager. I then headed to South Congress for the free parties down there. I was waiting at the Blood Shot Records Party for the Waco’s to perform, but I wasn’t feeling quite right. I wondered down to the South by San Jose stage and got a bit of a set, but that unsteady feeling was creeping in.
I ended up catching a bus home: IT was starting and I needed to get to a quiet place. I am not sure what the combination was: weather, allergy index, poor food planning, noise from the gigs, and the amount of people around or just getting myself tired out. What ever it was, I did have a good time getting to that point. IT changed my Friday night plans, kept me home for the evening. I did manage to get John off to the airport Saturday morning with a stop for breakfast then I managed to get Saba to the park for a run. As the day progressed, I kept looking at the music schedule and wishing I felt a better. I ended up staying home on Saturday night I wasn’t willing to head downtown and have to head back home.
SXSW was a good warm up to what to expect for race weekend: I need to keep up my sleep schedule, keep hydrated and hope for the best.
