I got clarification:
04/01/2009
I would rather not have to do yesterday over again anytime soon.
I had to go to a luncheon at work: It was a bit stressful, a few people turned out I didn’t really want to see: my seating options were limited because I arrived late, but I managed to eek a spot in with the group I currently work with. I got back to the office and the stress level continued to increase until I left the office for the evening.
Shortly after I got back from the lunch, I was brought into a meeting about the re-organization and told my civilian supervisor was going to change. I was aware of that from comments she made last week. I was then told who my new supervisor was going to be. I felt for a short time I was going to be unaffected much by the changes. I then got a call from that new supervisor a short time later. I was working on a couple of current cases, the phones were ringing and I was quite busy. She insisted I come over for a meeting and I tried to explain we had active cases working, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer. I made hasty arrangements for the phones to be covered: explained to the Sergeant I had to leave the unit and go to her office quite unexpectedly during a busy time.
Once I got there I was surprised to find that there were more people at this meeting: an HR representative and another supervisor. I felt my level of stress just go over the top as I walked into her office, I knew this meeting wasn’t going to be good news. I was told that I am no longer qualified to hold the position I have. The job had been reclassified to a higher pay grade and an Admin Specialist would be taking over due to the re-organization. The changes will be taking place the 12th of April and I will have two days to familiarize my replacement.
I was then told I will be working for a different group and the other supervisor who was at the meeting. They wanted to inform me before I heard about the changes; the re-organization chart was being made public. I will be taking a newly created position and be reporting to a commander and her. The job is new: it will be part of a regional task force that is being formed. I will work at the same location but at a different building to start with, but more than likely be relocated to a different building after a short period of time.
Needless to say I was quite shocked with all this news coming so quickly. I am feeling a range of emotions about being forced out of a job I initially fought so hard for. I am disappointed but I feel excitement building about the new position. I think the new position will be an interesting assignment filled with new adventures.
