A weeked at the track is just what I needed.

I headed up on Thursday morning for Texas Motor Speedway for the spring races. I arrived to find a cold front coming in: it was windy, about 65 mps at times. Needless to say the wind affected the practice for the Nationwide Series. The wind created quite a hat dance in the stands. As folks were going through the tunnels to get the stands the hats were flying all day long. I stayed for Fandango, the annual season tickets holders’ party. It sure was fun, Kevin Harvick and Eddy Gosich have quite the dispute going on. Kyle Petty sang us a new song and there was a whole lot of talk about sex.

I headed out and grabbed up brother from the airport and headed to the hotel. It’s the same place, same room that I usually stay at. It feels like a secret hideout for me. I know the folks at the restaurant; know the folks at the local stores. It works for me.

We watched the Cup practices and then stayed for the quick qualifying. Most of the Cup cars only took one lap. I think with the wind coming up after the first few cars, it slowed a lot of the cars for the turn 3-4 drop down. I think the wind forced them up the track and slowed the speeds.

We are heading out for the Nationwide race this afternoon looking for a beautiful day and quick speeds at the track.
