It’s been a rough start to the new job.

I am getting adjusted and figuring out what I need.
It had been planned for weeks, but very little of the prep work was done. I had a computer that wasn’t hooked up to the network, no mouse and my profile wasn’t on the machine. The machine hadn’t been updated for quite a while and I noticed it still had a floppy drive! At least the monitor is a flat screen, so it looks good, but is sure is a drop in speed. I am still having access issues, but that is normal in a bureaucratic environment.
I haven’t received a lot of direction about the new job: I don’t have a clear picture of what I am suppose to be doing yet. My replacement has officially told them she is putting in her retirement paperwork. They are scrambling to figure out what to do, but that’s really not my problem is it?
I watched the Talladega race on Sunday; it was as spectacular as always: you never know then the track is going to decide who to take out. The spectacular crash by Carl Edwards made all the news shows and I am sure glad that catch fence held. It’s about time that Nascar looks at the passing below the yellow lines at the finish of the race. That rule has caused enough carnage and luckily no drivers have been seriously injured yet.
