The first week of the new job and
05/02/2009

I am allergic to everything, including Saba!

It has been a difficult week with the transition to the new job. I think I will like it once I get adjusted to the changes. I feel as if I went from 110 mph to 10 mph. It seemed strange to me that the unit phone never rang, that is a huge change. There was is a bit of a hiccup in their plans: my replacement has officially put in her retirement notice. There is a scramble to figure out what to do: I would prefer to be left out of the mix. I have too many negative feelings at the moment. I still feel like I was kicked to the curb. The more rumors I hear, the madder I get. There was a whole lot of politics and a whole lot of backstabbing over the changes.

The positive parts: its nice an quiet in the new location. There is no lobby noise drifting up, I can actually hear a lot better. I do have the unit coming and going off the elevator outside my door. I do have to share an office, but that is working out ok so far. I saw my old Sergeant the other day: she was quite surprised with my decorating. There are flower prints on the wall and a mirror: it is a bit girlish, but you know what, I like it. I am going to be working around mostly men and I want to make sure they know I am a female. I think the lack of stress will be good for IT, perhaps I can concentrate on getting better instead of worrying about where the next jab is going to come from.

I went for allergy testing on Thursday morning. I am allergic to all the airborne pollens. I hit high on ragweed, 3 types of trees, mold and cat, dog and horse dander. I was asked if I had a dog, I replied yes, and then I was asked if I had a long hair dog and I just pulled a photo of Saba out. I told the tester, that Saba is not negotiable. We agreed on a few things to manage the problem. I will be looking for a hepa filter for the bedroom, shaking the bedding out at night and sweeping up a bit more often. Saba will have to get a few more baths and somehow we will manage.

I did the big clean this morning, and I am doing a bit of research on the filter to buy: the prices range from 45.00- 700.00 I think anything will be better, but I am not convinced I need to spend a fortune on this gadget.
